Zhou Dynasty Culture
Zhou ruled for more than 800 years from 1028 BC-256 BC.
- In the Zhou Dynasty culture was a huge deal for them.
- People-Most of the people were poor farmers
living in the countryside. The peasants rarely traveled outside their own village. - Clothing-The peasant women made all the clothing out of
rough fabric, and the wealthy people wore silk. - Homes-The farmers lived in mud and straw homes, the wealthy homes were filled with art
objects and ornate furniture. - Food-The peasants ate rice
and vegetables, they rarely ate meat but not always. - Farming-The nobles owned the farming lands,they
gave their land to their serfs, is similar to the European feudalism. The fields
were divide into 9 sections and then the government took the middle section
or 1/9 of the harvest for taxes. - Metalworking-The Zhou crated a ornate metal statues. Zhou crafted works of bronze, also
crated weapons and farming tools of metal.
